LIOU held a meeting of the Committee on Tourism

On January 22, 2018, the League of Insurance Organizations of Ukraine held a meeting of the LIOU Committee on Insurance in the field of tourism.

Participants of the meeting discussed the draft Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine” On Tourism “, promulgated by the Ministry of Economy for discussion, and proposals to it. In particular, the provisions of article 9.1 “Reimbursement of expenses related to the provision of medical care while staying abroad”, article 15 “Financial support of liability of tour operator and tour agent”, article 16 “Travel insurance for tourists”, article 19.1 “Informing consumers about the conditions for the provision of tourist services” and article 20 “Contract for travel services”. Participants of the meeting noted that the size of the insurance coverage under the insurance contract for medical expenses of tourists should be not less than 30 thousand Euros, and under insurance contracts from the accident – not less than 3 thousand Euros.

Among the issues on the agenda is the approval of the work plan of the LIOU Committee on Insurance in the field of tourism for 2018, the question of bringing the insurance programs in line with the Visa code and the conditions of a visa-free regime, etc.

The results of the insurance companies – members of the LIOU on travel insurance were considered. After analyzing the data of 24 insurance company members of the LIOU, it was noted that comparing the indicators for the 3rd quarter of 2017 and the indicators for the 3rd quarter of 2016, the growth rate of insurance payments amounted to 22,03%, the growth rate of insurance payments – 26,15%, and 17% the growth rate of the number of insured persons has increased.

Also, the meeting approved the updated staff of the Committee on Insurance in the field of tourism. It includes representatives of insurance companies “Alfa Insurance”, “Arsenal Insurance”, “ASKA”, “Military Insurance Company “, “Euroins Ukraine”, “Indigo”, “PZU Ukraine”, “Providna”, “PROSTO Insurance”, “Tekom”, “Ukrfinstrah” and “Unika”.
