LIOU took part in the V Energy Efficiency Partnership Forum

On April 12, 2019, the State Energy Efficiency Forum held a V Energy Efficient Partnership Forum “Territorial communities, state, business: Transparent Investment Models”.

The key topics of the Forum were state policy in the field of energy efficiency; energy management as a start of energy efficiency in communities; new technology and co-financing models – from classic to advanced ESCO-partnership; energy efficiency in industry: sources of project financing, etc.

The event’s speakers emphasized that attracting investments into energy efficiency is impossible without the appropriate legislative framework, and ensuring energy efficiency of final consumption, in particular by creating appropriate conditions for the activities of energy service companies and the introduction of energy service contracts, is one of the requirements of Directive 2012/27 / EU of the European Parliament and of the Council which Ukraine is obliged to implement in its legislation. Except that Ukraine continues to increase energy efficiency, as it is a necessary element for the formation of economically strong, energy-independent and well-off communities.

It was emphasized that today the Ukrainian energy sector is characterized by a high level of dependence on foreign energy suppliers. However, the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU and the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035 define as one of the priority tasks for the energy sector of Ukraine achieve energy independence by reducing energy consumption and using alternative energy sources.

“Insurance business can become an active participant in such programs, providing new opportunities for using tools for energy efficiency, energy efficiency optimization, counteracting the effects of climate change and improving Ukraine’s energy security. All this will contribute to improving the quality of life of Ukrainians and will allow them to save on utility services, “said Oleksandr Filonyuk, President of LIOU.

The Forum brought together over 600 participants from all over Ukraine: mayors of cities, heads of regional and district administrations, UTC (united territorial communities), as well as experts, profile public organizations, international projects, representatives of industrial enterprises, domestic ESCO-companies. The League of Insurance Organizations of Ukraine at the event was presented by the President of LIOU Oleksandr Filonyuk and the Director of the Information Policy Department of the LIOU Iryna Denisova.
