Norwegian insurance company Gjensidige Forsikring has received permission of the Central Bank of Lithuania (Lietuvos bankas LB) for the acquisition of 99.8% stake in the insurance company PZU Lietuva, a member of the Polish group PZU.
Board of Lietuvos bankas did not object to acquisition of Gjensidige Forsikring a share capital of PZU Lietuva, that it may become the parent company, according to LB.
In this April, the transaction was approved, and the Competition Council, which considers that the transaction would not create or strengthen a dominant position in the market and do not restrict competition.
In early February, Gjensidige Forsikring and PZU signed a sale and purchase agreement for the shares of PZU Lietuva 54 million euros. Completion of the transaction is expected in the third quarter of this year.
Gjensidige – leading in the Nordic region property insurance company, which has subsidiaries in Norway, Denmark, Sweden and the Baltic countries.
