NEW CAR SALES IN UKRAINE 40.6% UP IN JAN – AUTO-CONSULTING

The sales of new cars in Ukraine in January this year increased by 40.6% compared to the same month in 2017, to 6,620 units, which was a new post-crisis record for this month, according to AUTO-Consulting.

According to analysts, such a rapid increase in sales was due to the exchange rate “fever,” which forced consumers to make faster decisions about the purchase of cars whose prices were rising more slowly than the U.S. dollar exchange rate was changing.

“In addition, many orders for cars were made before the New Year, and in January the deals were closed,” they added.

The leader, as in last year’s January, was Toyota, which almost doubled sales and occupied 14% of the market. Renault stably ranks second (with a share of 8.9%), followed by Volkswagen (8.7%).

Skoda (the fourth one in the rating) and Nissan (the fifth) are raising sales, while Mazda almost doubled sales.

The Uzbek brand Ravon tripled sales. This brand in January already became number eight in Ukraine, although a year ago it was in the “tail” of the second twenty.

The three-fold rise in the sales of the Uzbek brand Ravon allowed it to reach the eighth position in the rating, while in January 2017 it ranked 17th.

According to AUTO-Consulting, from premium brands Audi ranked first in January. It increased sales almost three-fold, which allowed the brand to gain a foothold in the top ten of the Ukrainian market.
