National study: “Methods of evaluating the cost of living of Ukrainians and evaluation of real losses from the accident”, which conducts national program on prevention of road traffic injuries of children and youth «Traffic Challenge». A report on the cost of human life in Ukraine was made by President of the League of Insurance Organizations of Ukraine Alexander Filonyuk.

He noted that “The cost of human life is not new and is being developed in Ukraine for decades. However, unlike developed countries in Ukraine there are no officially recognized methods. However, there are studies that propose to set a limit value of human life, based on data on the living wage and minimum wage”. “Consistent understanding of the invaluable human life in society turns its free” – said President LIOU.

Alexander Filonyuk also stressed that “the measures that could reduce the death rate, we considered too costly.” In particular, President League of Insurance Organizations of Ukraine Alexander Filonyuk believes that Ukraine is not enough to create safe conditions on the roads, “Today we have relatively no effect on road safety activities conducted in the country. Because it often goes only declaration of what to do. But the problem is not solved our national security. ”

Organizers are reminded that in Europe the numbers that determine the cost of living, have long existed. However a study started in Ukraine for the first time. “As a result we get a total figure of how much our country is losing money every year from accidents. – Says Olga Drobysheva organizer study leader «Traffic Challenge», – In a study we find the optimal evaluation methodology for our country, and estimate how much of the state’s death an accident. Since the beginning of the year until May 31, according to statistics in Ukraine happened 60 thousand 220 accidents,12 thousand 530 people were injured, including 1178 dead, 1300 accident occurred involving children aged 0 to 7 years. “It cannot be solved by force alone National police. – Explains Deputy Head of patrol police Alexei Biloshytskyy. – There is no country where the accident did not happen. This should be a set of activities involving a wide range of organizations, must be the political will to make a difference. ”

Today, the main goal is to reduce accidents on the roads by 30% by 2020. In this convince national deputy, chairman of the subcommittee of the Verkhovna Rada  of Ukraine on road safety Igor Didenko. The deputy stressed that the new government would have in its program of actions to identify measures to improve the situation of road safety. “I think that today there is no more important issues than saving lives,” – he said. For statistics of EU human life is estimated at between 1 and 2 million Euros and citizen injuries during the accident – estimated hundreds of thousands of Euros.

President of the International Centre for Road Safety Dr. Alan Ross says that it would be good if such statistics was conducted in Ukraine. Alan Ross undertook to consult a study that will conduct the National Traffic Challenge program in Ukraine. He noted that the problem of accounting for all the data is in fact the expert said that Ukraine is not all accidents recorded. “If that light injury or accident without injuries, people just repair the car and did not inform the police,” – he stressed. Alan Ross recommends Ukraine to choose this method of valuation losses from accidents as a method of human capital, considering the economic consequences of accidents on the roads. This method is used by the World Bank.

As part of the event, a meeting of the President of the League of Insurance Organizations of Ukraine Alexander Filonyuk and people’s deputy of Ukraine, head of the subcommittee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on road safety Igor Didenko, during which discussed further steps to improve road safety with the participation of institutions of civil society, measures to prevent road -freight injuries of children and youth and the role of insurance companies in these processes.

On the national survey “Methods of evaluating the cost of living of Ukrainians and evaluation of real losses from the accident” will run a number of scientific institutions, scientists, economists, demographers, lawyers and representatives of the insurance market.
