On June 19, 2018, the League of Insurance Organizations of Ukraine held a meeting of the LIOU Presidium.

The President of LIOU Oleksandr Filonyuk informed the audience about the activities of the League of Insurance Organizations of Ukraine for the reporting period on the main activities of the League, paying attention to work in the framework of the update of the Integrated Program of the Financial Sector Development of Ukraine till 2020 and active work on research and forecasting of the insurance services market within the framework of the project “Open Insurance”.

In his speech, the President of LIOU recalled that the active involvement of LIOU in USAID “Transformation of the Financial Sector projects, which are usually held with the active support of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Financial Policy and Banking. This is a discussion of the bill “On the Establishment of a Financial Ombudsman” No. 8055 dated 22.02.2018 in the framework of events – a round table discussion on “How Financial Ombudsman Protects Consumer Financial Services, Public Event” “Consumer Lending: Building Bridges Between Law and Practice, Round table “Protection of the Rights of Consumers of Financial Services in Ukraine: Status and Prospects for Legislative Improvement”, etc. In addition, the issue of protecting the rights of consumers of financial services is actively pursued by the League in the Public Council at the National Financial Services Commission and in the profile Committee on the Protection of the Rights of Consumers of Financial Services under the Public Council.

A member of the National Financial Services Commission Oleksandr Zaletov, who was invited to the meeting of the LIOU Presidium, raised the issue of the draft Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to certain Laws of Ukraine on State Regulation of Financial Services Markets” (Reg. No. 8415 dated 25.05.2018), stressing that the problem of regulation is not in changing the name of the regulator, and in that the insurance business should become more transparent and understandable for consumers of insurance services.

According to the agenda, the issue of the draft regulation of the National Financial Services Commission “On Amendments to the Regulation on the State Register of Financial Institutions”, which was published on the website of the National Financial Services Commission on 04.06.2018, was also considered on the draft Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine” On Tourism ” on the improvement of the state policy in the field of tourism “(Reg. No. 8317 dated April 20, 2018); on the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation on the introduction of a system of agricultural insurance with state support in Ukraine and on the participation of LIOU in the joint participants of the financial market.

Also members of the Presidium of the League of Insurance Organizations of Ukraine approved the Agenda of the next meeting of the League’s Presidium.

President of LIOU Oleksandr Filonyuk presented the Diploma of the League of Insurance Organizations of Ukraine “For Significant Contribution to the Development of Insurance in Ukraine” to the Executive Director of IC “Providna” Lesia Mikolaevna Shcherbakova.
